DVT: Redness, tension and swelling along with pain in the calf after being stationary (sitting or laying for long periods) could indicate a blood clot has formed in the leg. This is an urgent scenario which should be evaluated by an urgent care Dr or in an ED. If there is a blood clot in the leg, the danger is that pieces of it will break off and travel to the brain and cause a stroke.
