Dental deep cleaning done in us. lot of bleeding gums. hygienist did wore gloves and barrier during procedure . after procedure was done she removed gloves and used paper tissue to hold my used plastic cup to refill mouthwash.any risk for hiv/hep?

HIV/HEP Fears: The scenario you described would not result in any infection to you. In fact, the hygienist would be more concerned about puncturing her gloves or skin with a contaminated sharp instrument covered in your blood. If she held your cup with her bloody gloves you would not want to touch it. Dental offices have been following universal precautions for decades.

NO: These are blood infections and it is your blood that is present not the hygienists . If the hygienist had an active cut or bleeding than you should be of concern.
