A member asked:

I'm 48 years old and my periods stopped 2 years ago and suddenly started again today. had an annual check up with my gynae last year and there were no issues. shouldi be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vaginal bleeding ?'s: If menstruation had been regular prior to two years ago, sudden onset of vaginal bleeding may indicate sustained estrogen stimulation of the uterine lining, with consequent degeneration of thickened uterine tissue. See your gyn physician for an exam, and he/she may order a pelvic ultrasound to determine the cause.
