She can ware pads every day and think about it. Part of growing up is accepting the responsibility to make good decisions for your health, and that includes doing stuff you may not like. When she decides to make adult decisions, she can go in and get discuss her situation with her mom and a health professional. By itself, the symptom is not that unusual or worrisome.
