A member asked:

Do most patients with "transformed migraine" (from episodic to chronic daily headache) find effective treatment? recently got this diagnosis and need encouragement so i can stop catastrophizing! started topamax 5 days ago. thanks?

You can be helped: First, find a neurologist who focuses on headaches. Second, do not use pain pills, and stop OTC's like tylenol. Third, Topamax has a number of nasty side effects and is an older remedy. Fourth, ask about CGRP's, as these drugs are truly the breakthrough. Fifth, you may benefit from 2 weeks of steroids to break up headache pattern.
