See an oral surgeon: There are sometimes small vessels in the posterior hard palate that can be visible, but you should have it checked by a specialist.

Purplish: Your doctor may be correct, a collection of blood vessels near the surface. However there are some blue/purple lesions that can be quite problematic. Please see a specialist Oral Surgeon or a specialist Oral Pathologist for an examination to rule out anything other than a normal variation.
