A member asked:

My husband had piles removed and now a week later he is still suffering with severe pain.. is it normal and should he go back tot he surgeon?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hemorrhoid surgery: This is very difficult surgery, pain after the operation is common. Warm baths (put warm-hot water in tub and sit in it) 3-4 times a day helps. Avoid sitting on hard surfaces. Use stool softeners. As the nerve endings and wound heals the pain gradually improves but if the pain interferes with having a bowel movement or if there is bright red bleeding, your surgeon should see if there is a problem
