Colds and flu: Breastfeeding moms can use meds with the following ingredients: Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen (fever/pain), Dextromethrophan (cough). Doxylamine succinate and diphenhydramine may cause sedation in mother and breastfeeding infant and should be used with caution if the infant has a history of apnea. Pseudoephedrine is likely safe while breastfeeding, but may decrease late-stage milk production.
