C Difficile Severity: Severity of C. Difficile infection ranges from mild to severe. Mild infection presents with three watery stools a day +/- mild abdominal pain or tenderness. White blood cell count is normal for mild infections. Severe infection presents with frequent watery stools (10+ times a day), blood or pus in stool, severe abdominal pain, fever, dehydration, high white blood cell count, and kidney failure.
