A member asked:

If hepatitis a and b are not curable, does it mean a person who once had it is always contagious?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Variable : Hep A . Contagious , one to two weeks before symptoms and for 2 weeks after symptoms , but immune compromised patients may remain contagious for 6 months . HepB. contagious after infection but most non contagious by 6 months , though 2 %of adults and over 90% of children do not clear the infection , remaining contagious with positive blood tests .( Vaccine best preventive)
