A member asked:

What does hepatitis a ab total result positive reference negative mean? am i contagious ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depend on why tested: If a healthy person had Hepatitis A vaccines (usually 2 shots) in the past, or if she doesn't know whether or not she got the vaccinations and is trying to find out if she needs to get the vaccinations, then a blood serology POSITIVE result for HepA Total Ab or IgG Ab is the desired result. It is what we want, because it means the patient is immune to Hepatitis A and will not catch Hepatitis A.
