Your choice: If you want to deal with an obviously deformed toe that will be evident to strangers you can skip the treatment. Over time the body could heal. However, it could settle into a form of non-union where the parts never quite mend & remains painful for the foreseeable future. If you are uncomfortable with the 1st doc, get a second opinion.

See doctor: Not all displaced fractures need surgery. It may be feasible to straighten it without surgery and have it heal without deformity.
