A member asked:

My ct scan found a lesion in my gallbladder that is 1.2 cm by 1.1 cm by 0.8 cm in size. my mom and my aunt both had gallbladder polyps. is this a cause for concern? do polyps generally go away on their own or with a change in diet or lifestyle?

Gallbladder Polyp: Gallbladder polyps are growths that protrude from the lining of the inside of the gallbladder. Only a very small percentage are cancerous. Polyps are associated with genetic predisposition, polyposis syndromes, and abnormal fat metabolism. Polyps larger than 2.5cm in diameter have a greater likelihood of being or becoming malignant and should be removed. Decrease fat intake, increase fiber intake.
