A member asked:

I had my blood taken today for a cbc. i looked at the vial and the blood was light red. im confused as i thought venous blood was deoxygenated and was supposed to be dark. any explaination for this?

Difference: The difference between venous and arterial blood is very subtle. The venous blood is slightly darker and less "shinny". Venous blood is not supposed to be really dark or purple. Have a great day.
