A member asked:

Where do fat cells "go" when you lose weight? are they excreted? i doubt they 'turn into' muscle cells. do they just "shrink?" want to understand.

They shrink: The fat cells store fat. If the fat is used up, the cells shrink to a smaller size. If one overeats, there is more fat formed in the body. The fat cells take up that fat, growing bigger in the process. If the fat is again used up, the fat cells shrink in size again.
