Category C drug: The FDA & other groups classify this as a category C drug, which means no direct human studies have shown defect or damage in human fetuses but not enough research has been done to put it in a safer category. When/if another drug in a safer category is likely to accomplish the same goal, many use it instead. When/if it is the best choice available it is used routinely.
