Cipro/pregnancy: Studies indicate a substantial risk unlikely. There is insufficient data to indicate lack of risk. Cartilage damage and arthropathies associated with Cipro (ciprofloxacin) are seen in immature animals of various species, creating concern over possible toxic effects on human fetal bone formation. Because safer alternatives are available, some think Cipro (ciprofloxacin) contraindicated during pregnancy, partic in first trimester.
