A member asked:

My mom is covid + and has been experiencing body pains, headache, back pain and more recently nausea that has caused continuous vomiting. she has been vomiting for 3 days now and hasn't been able to keep anything down. should we take her in?

Probably yes: If she can't keep anything down, she's going to get dehydrated, and that can be serious. She may need IV fluids to turn her health around. This may only require an ER, or even Urgent Care or clinic (depending on the clinic) visit, and hopefully not a hospital admission. Of course, if any difficulty breathing, chest pain or pressure, blue lips, or mental changes, that's an emergency.

COVID 19: I agree with Dr. Mitchell. She may become significantly dehydrated & thus medical assessment is recommended. Get urgent care for difficulty breathing, blue lips or face, persistent significant chest pain/ pressure or new onset confusion.

Call her PCP : this is definitely at minimum an urgent care issue, but d=call ahead or better yet call her PCP and get specific direction. If all else fails er but call ahead and let them know so appropriate direct can be gotten for adequate safety
