Evaluate: Injury to the wrist may result in these findings. I would suggest an examination and possible image today. Place an ice pack on the wrist and avoid moving the wrist. If there is a bruise the swelling may be related and an underlying fracture should be ruled out. Motrin for pain control may be used. Watch for discoloration of the skin, coolness and tingling.
