Went to urologist and diagnosed with prostatitis and given bactrim. this was about 3 days ago, but have had symptoms for about 6 days. when can i expect symptoms to subside? constant urge to urinate and not emptying.

Prostate infection: When antibiotics are started for a prostate infection they usually are effective to kill bacteria but the symptoms of prostate congestion lag behind. Usually within a 7-10 day period the symptoms you mentioned improve but if you get a fever or feel worse, a change of antibiotic may be needed. In that case notify your provider of your progress.
