Variable : Many OB providers do order ultrasounds to be done at 20 weeks, to evaluate fetal growth, look for anomalies (some of which can be dealt with before baby is born but many cannot) & perhaps to determine sex of baby. But in a healthy mother with a healthy pregnancy this ultrasound is not absolutely necessary, & in some cases it can give false reassurance . But if you really want to do it, go for it!
