HIV: It is imperative that you and your partner discuss his HIV status. If you can't discuss issues this important than it calls the health of your relationship into question.

Agree with Dr. F: Talk to your doctor about taking pre-exposure prophylaxis. It would be better for your partner to take effective HIV medication, if he has HIV, to reduce the risk of transmission to you. It would be better for you and your partner to see the doctor together, but from what you described, that may not be practical. Wish you good health!
