A member asked:

My mom lost a molar but the root is still inside. which would be the symptoms of an infection? even if there is no infection, should i still take her to the dentist? i dont want her to be at risk of getting covid19, so i dont like the dentist idea.

Needs dentist: She needs a dentist regardless. All offices are taking precautions for patients and their staff, so do not hesitate to have her get proper dental care.

Covid vas Infection: If crown of tooth is lost the remaining root is probably badly infected, and a higher mortality risk than from Covid. With universal precautions coupled with current Covid barrier steps, if your mom gets Covid from going to the Dentist she will be the very first. New special precautions are to prevent harm to your Mom and to Doctor/Staff. Untreated infected tooth is a serious health risk.
