A member asked:

If one has hsv 2 igg value of 23 is he/she protected from spreading the virus to other parts of the body by touching the sore and then accidentally touching nose, mouth or eyes? what if the person is immuno compromised otherwise?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HSV 2 ?'s: If the IgG is specific for HSV 2 (or HSV 1) it indicates protection against a recurrence lasting as long as the initial contact prior to Immume Globulin (IgG) production. An actual "sore" can allow spread to other individuals who are not immune to HSV 2 or 1. The protection rendered by IgG will at least limit the excursion of the HSV 2 beyond one or two lesions on the person with IgG.
