Depends: Translocations vary in their impact. If it is balanced,(the swap leaves the recipient with a complete set of chromosome material,) they can appear & function normally. Problems will emerge when this "normal" person reproduces & an unbalanced set of chromosomes is transferred to a fetus. The loss or gain chromosome material can result in loss of pregnancy or birth defects.
