What is the difference between a balanced reciprocal translocation and an unbalanced one?

In a balanced trams-: location, a piece of a chromosome has been exchanged with that of a different one. There are still two complete sets of genes one from mom and one from dad, except now some are not in their right place. When a balanced translocation carrier makes a gamete, half the time it will be unbalanced--no longer having a complete set of genes, A zygote will be abnormal.
