Translocation chrom: A carrier of a translocation chromosome is normal. When a carrier goes to reproduce however, sometimes the translocation increases the risk of a miscarriage or a chromosomally abnormal baby. Risks are different for different translocations. Prenatal diagnosis can find out if the chromosomes in the fetus are normal or not.

Yes: A person who has a "balanced translocation" has chromosomes that are rearranged, but all the normal genetic material there, and will be normal. These people can have normal children, but there is a risk of having a baby with an "unbalanced translocation", in which an individual has, more or less, 1.5 copies of one chromosome, and 2.5 copies of another. This usually causes severe birth defects.

Maybe/maybe not: I sat in on counseling with one lady who came to us after a dozen miscarriages. She and her sister both had the same balanced translocation. Her sister had a normal kid and a late miscarriage with many abnormalities. Depending on the what you have your risk of miscarriage may be as high as 100%.Seek out a medical geneticist & pursue information based on current data.
