Normal: A normal axillary temperature for a child can vary from 97.8 to 99.5. If your child develops a fever over 99.5 then you should be looking for a source of infection (upper respiratory, skin, diarrhea, etc) Any temperature above 103.5 in a child is considered an emergency and should be seen in an ER.
