Tonsil stones?: One common cause of "spots" on the tonsils that is painless, and harmless, are tonsil stones. They can sometimes cause bad breath, but may be totally assymptomatic. Without seeing the tonsils it is impossible to diagnose (and that is not the purpose of this forum).
