Is it normal to pass the heal to toe test with eyes closed for a few steps and then fail the test( arms swaying, unbalanced equilibrium) with another attempt a few seconds later, consistent results?

Can indicate problem: Tandem gait (heel to toe) test failure can indicate a vestibular (inner ear) problem, a medication side effect, muscle weakness, MS, or a lesion on your cerebellum as well as ethanol intoxication. It is important for a physician to evaluate any problems with a variety of tests to accurately diagnose the underlying condition.
