Many: Continuous cough and runny nose in an infant should be discussed with your doctor. It might be as simple as recurrent colds this time of year, but it could signify a chronic condition (wheezing or acid reflux), or a more serious infection (whooping cough or bronchiolitis). Treatments vary based on the cause, so a careful exam should be done by your pediatrician.

I agree with Dr. Stuppy's suggestion. I would add sinusitis to the list of common causes of prolonged cough and runny nose.

I agree and would add congenital upper airway abnormalities, cystic fibrosis and pertussis.

Sinusitis, allergy: Lot of times continuous nasal drainage could be because of allergies too, mostly molds and dust mites. Take a good history, if both parents are allergic, chances for the infant are high.

I would add infections to the differential.
