A member asked:

My dr. has advised waiting at least another month before going anywhere such as to dental appointments, etc. as he doesn't feel the number of covid cases has declined enough for things to be "safe." when can we expect things to improve?

Unknown: Since we are still learning about the natural history of this virus' natural history and we now know that people with no symptoms can carry the virus and transmit it, we can't be assured of any estimates. Your dentist wants to protect himself, his family, his staff and his patients. I feel he is being very prudent in waiting another month and I know he'll institute strict safeguards when he opens

Follow Guidelines: When Texas health officials allow dental offices to open for routine care and not only emergencies, it means the numbers are at a point that it is relatively "safe" to be seen. Follow the instructions of the staff.

Dental practices.: The governor of Texas allowed reopening of dental practices on 1 May 2020. However that does not mandate openings, so some practices will delay openings until they have more PPE or they feel safer.
