Check with surgeon: If you have stitches, then okay to go back to that doc for further instructions and care, possible referral. Typically infection, swelling, malnutrition, blood supply and cleaning are the factors that inhibit wound healing. Good luck.

Area of stress: The knee is an area that gets a lot of action as we walk, or move in general. The action pulls on the wound and stitches reducing healing. The key is to minimize the local stress by limiting the amount you bend the knee, wearing a splint and using crutches for a while may help. You would know if it is infected so that is probably not likely.
