A member asked:

How worried should i be abt radiation from an old watch? read makers used to use radium paint to make watch dials glow. dad has 2 glow-in-dark watches from early 60s kept in box. worried we all have been exposed to dangerous radiation over the years.

Not an issue: The people that developed problems from this practice were the workers that painted the dials. They often touched the brush to their skin or mouth to assist making a fine line. Such practices amplified their exposure & they did it multiple times a day for years. Otherwise the amount of radiation from a flowing dial was not enough to cause problems in those who wore them or stood nearby.
