Often simple issue: If a kid that age slides down from any height with their heel forward they can transfer any pressure into the hip joint.Within hours some fluid can accumulate and cause a transient period of limping that resolves. Limping can also signal an infection in a joint or bone. Both would give fever and swelling. If it worsens or doesn't improve in a day/2 see the doc.
