Sports medicine doct: She should not run until she is cleared medically. She may have soft tissue injury which is being worsened by her running. She may benefit from a splint for a period of time and some antiinflamatory meds. This situation must be clarified by a sports medicine doctor or orthopedist. Good luck.

Will take more time: Ankle sprains may take 12-16 weeks to fully heal. Follow the rule that if an activity hurts, don't do it. She may need to get an MRI to assess soft tissue damage such as a ligament or tendon injury. Immobilization may be needed to allow appropriate healing.
