A member asked:

Should we have 4th year medical students graduate early to work in the hospitals?

Early ??: Coursework & rotations where they gain their knowledge & certification usually end in May. Would you want the kid who graduates last in his/her class of 200 to be your doc after they cutback on their training ? It is a daunting task to work with the sick & be expected to always be right. As long as medical students & new graduated are well supervised by more experienced docs they cando a lot.

NO: If we believed that 3 years of medical training was sufficient to make a competent physician, then we would already have shortened the time required to graduate. Competence cannot be rushed, it takes practice, and time... lots of time.
