Increase white count: Leukocytosis means increase in white blood cell (leukocyte) count. There are many causes of leukocytosis but in your case it could be related to an infection ( causing COPD exacerbation) or related to steroid use to treat the COPD exacerbation. Other causes are possible depending on the clinical picture and other associated symptoms or signs.

White blood cells: Leukocytosis is an elevated white blood cell count. This is common during an illness but given that you have copd, the steroids you take can also cause the WBC count to elevate. This is not dangerous as long as your doctor is aware.
