53 yof while i wait for results for hemochromatosis testing is it dangerous to walk around with a ferritin of 247? its been over 200 for months. and if im negative whats next? treatment? ignore?

Ferritin: Your ferritin appears borderline elevated at 247, even normal for different lab ranges and no likely to be related to hemochromatosis. As such it is not dangerous to walk around with such a ferritin that is a non specific inflammatory marker otherwise.

You are safe: ferritin is an indirect measurement of your iron overload. you do not have the abiity to get rid of iron in your body. ferritin is also a marker of inflammation and can be elevated from other conditions. if it is negative your doctor may order other tests. for now stick to an anti-inflammatory diet (look up online_
