My 9 year old daughter is experiencing pain and swelling from behind the ears radiating to the jaw and experiencing a fever.

Fever control: Monitor her temperature, control fever with children's ibuprofen and/or Tylenol. Choose one but you can use the other medication if needed to normalize her temperature. The swelling may represent infected or inflamed lymph nodes. If there is pain upon pressing on the area, an infection is likely. Please see a physician soon. Provide fluids to avoid dehydration.
