Some basics: Rust is not the origin of tetanus but the spores of tetanus can be in dust/dirt or anywhere in general. If you cleaned the scratch well you are not likely to get either tetanus or other infection (tetanus starts as an infection). If it has been >10 yrs this can serve as a reminder to get a booster when convenient. Tetanus can start from any break in the skin.
