A member asked:

Went for my tetanus booster at 10 years. was given dtap instead of tdap for my booster. 4 weeks later developed transverse myelitis symptoms. idiopathic as of right now. but, could it have been the vaccine? is it ok that i was given dtap instead?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Both "Dtap and Tdap" are used to prevent diptheria, pertussis and tetanus. Dtap is given to children, and Tdap is a "booster" for the same infections given to adults. Transverse myelitis should be evaluated by an infections disease physisican.
