Engage them to help: One approach would be to let them know kids are not much at risk (true) but they could accidentally carry the germ with them on their hands or even in their throat & pass it to people that could get very sick. The clean hands crusader that helps people is one label many kids may enjoy the chance to have.

COVID 19.: Like Dr. Ferguson's input. Recommend focusing on the things they can do to safeguard themselves and others rather then discussing severe infections. Teach them about washing hands, social distancing and wearing masks in public.
