A member asked:

A few months ago, i was bitten/scratched by a cat, (a similar event occured a few years ago.) both cats seemed healthy during/after these events, and they are most likely domesticated, should i worry about rabies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes for future bites: The question is, "How likely is catching rabies," which in this cat scenario is unlikely. People who are bit or scratched by an animal have to quickly decide whether or not the animal might have rabies. All cats and dogs MUST be vaccinated, and in the US, that is usually the case, so they should be rabies-free. In this case, there is not a rabies worry, because the cats lived happily ever after.
