Doctor can evaluate: Swollen lymph nodes in the neck can be from a throat infection (or other causes). Many doctors can test a throat swab for strep throat in 5 minutes. Other causes of such symptoms include cold and flu viruses, pollen allergies, stomach acid reflux, etc... If it turns out to be strep throat, antibiotics such as amoxicillin are the usual treatment. Cold viruses typically go away in about 5-15 days.
