Infectious: Swollen tender lymph nodes over a several day perior probably represents an infectious etiology. These particular lymph nodes can become swollen due to infections within the mouth. Mono and other viral ilness can cause a similar picture. Persistant swollen lymph nodes warrent evaluation and biopsy to exclude a lymphoma.
