Sialadenitis: Unilateral pain often with swelling under the chin with redness and edema of the cheek, low grade fever, malaise and pus from the salivary duct. In the chronic form it is common after meals and may have a stone. Treatment includes hydration, analgesics ( such as Advil (ibuprofen) ), stimulation of salivary secretion with lemon drop candy, and gentle massage. If infected may need antibiotics or surgery.
