Hormonal migraines ?: At age 50, your ovaries are producing higher levels of estrogen, and when your menstrual cycle occurs, the drop from very high to zero levels will cause some to have acute migraines. Ask your gyn about low dose oral contraceptives, which will stop ovarian estrogen, and can be taken consecutively (without placebos) for several cycles, which prevents any drop in the low estrogen in the pill.
