Cough suppressants: Corex is codeine based cough syrup which should not be given to children. Proapan is made with English Ivy and while there is no solid evidence for it's effectiveness, as long as the child has no allergies to it, it should be safe. In general suppressing a child's cough is not a good idea because coughing helps them "clean" their airways

Nasal saline drops: Please monitor his temperature, provide fluids and discontinue the other medications. Usually for nasal congestion at this age, nasal saline drops and gentle suction provides adequate relief. Cool air mist for his cough may also be helpful. Please see your pediatrician.
