I have anxiety/uc. the only medicines i have found effective are benzo drugs which help immediately and long term however, long term they have very negative side effects. is there anything that will help achieve similar results without the benzos?

Anxiety : I recommend that the best answer will come from your doctor. In general, benzodiazepines have side effects which often outway the benefits for many patients, yet it is used by psychiatrists to help patients with anxiety. Based on my training ( I am not a psychiatrist) they should be used only in the short term while other therapies are used like talk therapy or SSRI medications.
